I just read on someone’s tumblr that today is National Boubon Day and it made me think of him. Here’s to you, my friend, the friend that last year, perhaps on this very day, I was out drinking with. The friend that, at the end of last year, took his life. Here’s to you, I hope you are in a better place. All my love.
Amen to this.
A blog dedicated to different recipes for/variations on grilled cheese. Thank me later, unless you’re lactose intolerant, or don’t like cheese. If you don’t like cheese, who are you.
Fuck tonight, I’m gonna make a tomato and mozzarella salad.
Just spent another lovely weekend with Joe which involved my first experience of developing photos using a dark room and creating negatives using his homemade camera. It is definitely something I’d like to do again, I like how the process feels rewarding, seeing something appear and having it to keep, a bit like making something or art, although I guess that is basically what it is. We also made a trip to IKEA, almost purely for the meatballs (and chips, gravy AND red sauce for me). I got 20, but pussied out and only managed 9.5 (the .5 is important), while Joe got 20 and also managed 7 of mine, a team effort, kind of. However, I ended up buying lots of pretty coloured/shaped glasses, glasses because they had pineapples on, striped napkins (because, dem stripes, dat Breton feel), scented candles (THAT SMELL LIKE VANILLA ICE-CREAM, or more simply, vanilla), an orange candle holder, and a cushion, because I love cushions, and apparently I really love IKEA cushions. Oh, I also got a frame for a photo Joe took and printed for me from when he came to visit me in Derby. It is of the market place and it is one of my favourite photos in existence. It now stands proudly above the fireplace in my bedroom, behind my desk (I re-arranged my room, not that anyone would know this). Apparently I am so excited by all this that I can’t form proper sentences.
Breathe.
I got Joe to watch Amelie with me as he had never seen it and I was surprised and delighted that he liked it, that or he was lying. Either way, I got to watch one of my favourite films again in good company.
I decided that it would be a good idea to add some things I have been loving/introduced to that are propelling my ideas for the future. As some people now know I have decided my portfolio will do and have already started applying for interning (about bloody time), my plan is to go to Shanghai, I’ll let you know how that goes. Other than that I have been having various travel dreams. Hopefully a trip to Edinburgh is on the cards at some point as I love that city and NEED to go back (it’s a bit of a New York situation for me, alongside New York itself). Another friend mentioned Copenhagen a while back and I have been getting quite intrigued by the place as one of my favourite YouTubers has just done some VLOGS on it.
Another friend showed me a site that is potentially one of my favourite travel sites that exists on the internet. airbnb is a site full of places to stay all over the world, including an actual ISLAND I found for £100 a night, planes, campervans, TREEHOUSES, CASTLES. The list is endless. In addition to this it also has rather modest spaces to stay, bargain beautiful studio flats and more.
I’ve been finding help in the form of dribbble, a great site for designers, or just general cv/business card/graphic design/design inspiration. And I’ve been WANTING WANTING WANTING to go to one of these: The Blitz Party, Belle Epoque Party. If anyone knows of a party that can simulate a Jane-Austen-esque-ball/dance-in-a-country-manor-type situation, I’d be glad to hear of that too.
Dear Diary…
